Position Summary
As the BSW coordinator and academic advisor, this position is the lead advising position in the BSW program. Decisions concerning programs of study and students' progression in the programs are assigned to this position as well as more interaction with the Dean's offices. Will work closely with the BSW Program Director with regards to curriculum development of the program, recruitment, enrollment, admissions, learning outcomes assessment, student progress and special programs and events regarding the BSW Program.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and / or Competencies
ADVISING
- Maintains three listservs for the BSW program which support program and faculty members and are crucial and time sensitive to the dispersion of key communications. Processes all overrides for BSW student records in DegreeWorks and IMS .
- Uses various computer software and computer programs. Routinely extracts data necessary to monitoring the BSW program's progression and highlighting those areas needing attention. Forecast program data based on past and current trends.
- Provides school wide data to associate deans upon request.
- Thorough knowledge of the University's rules, regulations, policies and procedures pertaining to a specific degree program; and is the primary contact for other advisors with questions concerning these areas.
- Thorough knowledge of course offerings and requirements of a specific area of academic study; heavily involved with ensuring proper courses are offered each semester; Responsible for ensuring the accuracy of information posted in the UGA bulletin.
- Effective problem solving and interpersonal communication skills; daily occurrence when dealing with students and faculty. Must be constantly mindful of nurturing relationships.

Advising (50%)
1. Advises undergraduate students in BSW program, providing policies, procedures, goals, objectives, guidance, and problem resolution. Also assists students in changing their majors. Checks in on students' wellbeing; refers them to services if needed.
2. Manages an advising case load of 85 BSW students to include meeting face to face and / or over Zoom (students' choice) with students, and advising them regarding their progress through the BSW program. Clears BSW students for registration through Athena. Advises and clears graduation for all senior BSW students.
3. Fields telephone and e-mail inquiries from the BSW students concerning course of study and other topics. Accepts walk-ins for BSW inquires.
4. Co-manages summer orientation each summer.
5. Has certificate in Academic Advising. Regularly attends UGA academic advising workshops.
6. Serves on committees that search for advisor positions in the SSW .
7. Serves on UGA Commencement Committee.
8. Voting member of UGA's Academic Advising Council Committee.
9. Provides advising support to other programs within the SSW .

BSW Program Manager (50%)
1. Chair of SSW Convocation Committee - Coordinates logistics for major annual event. Serves as main point of contact with Classic Center, as well as all parties within SSW , for convocation information. Creates and implements surveys that gather information needed for the ceremony.
2. Provide leadership in areas of curriculum and curriculum integrity in all aspects of the degree program.
3. Working with the BSW Program Director in completing self-study documents for accreditation and internal review processes.
4. Working with the BSW Program Director to schedule necessary courses and appropriate course sections.
5. Coordinating curriculum offerings with the Practicum Education Office and International Programs within the SSW .
6. Monitoring undergraduate student enrollment plans to maintain consistency with the overall SSW enrollment plan.
7. Overseeing student progress within the degree program.
8. Providing information to students regarding program policy within the degree program manual.
9. Serving as the initial point of contact for students within the program.
10. Monitor all components of the BSW Program, working with the BSW Program Director on admissions, enrollment, curriculum, student progress, learning outcomes assessments, BSW student committees, special program and events.
Participates in BSW program meetings.
