Requires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, formal training programs, or on-the-job training. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education / experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

Position Summary

Performs manual work at the journeyman level in floor covering installation, maintenance, and repair. Work involves the performance of skilled floor covering tasks by maintaining, repairing, and applying blocks, strips, or sheets of shock-absorbing, sound-deadening, or decorative covering to floors, walls, and cabinets. Work is inspected for satisfactory compliance with instructions, although routine repairs are usually made independently without supervision or review. On occasion, employee may work beyond normal duty hours due to emergencies or high priority work.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and / or Competencies

• Knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, and techniques used in the floor covering trades.
• Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
• Ability to read and understand construction plans, sketches, visual instructions, and layouts.
