About the College / Unit / Department
In 2018, The UGA Tifton Campus began a yearlong Centennial celebration with various events to commemorate its 100th anniversary of providing updated research to the community.
Research is done on a wide range of commodities, including cotton, peanuts, vegetables and turf grass, all of which make agriculture the No. 1 industry in Georgia.
In 2004, a teaching program was initiated and it has been growing ever since. College-level instruction on campus is aimed at undergraduate and graduate-degree level study.

Position Summary
The incumbent will be responsible for managing the Engineering Shop and associated facilities on the University of Georgia's Tifton Campus. The Engineering Shop includes commonly used spaces (welding station, carpentry shop, equipment shelters, etc.), commonly used equipment (lathes, plasma cutters, band saws, forklifts, trailers, hoists, etc.) as well as dedicated work areas for technical support staff. The Engineering shop is used by several faculty, their technical support staff, and their graduate students. During peak periods, up to 20 people may be utilizing the Engineering Shop concurrently.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and / or Competencies
- Experience with shop and agricultural machinery and agricultural research including but not limited to :
Ability to operate various types of equipment, including lathes, band saws, forklifts, tractors, backhoes, utility vehicles, etc.
Geospatial technologies including geographic information systems ( GIS ) and Global Positioning System ( GPS )
