Position Information Classification Title Laboratory Paraprofessional / Professional FLSA Non-Exempt FTE 1.00 Minimum Qualifications Requires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, a 2-year degree, or professional certificate. Preferred Qualifications Position Summary This position will conduct cell culture and analysis as well as help in developing the experimental process and assisting post doctoral fellows, and graduate students. In addition this position will perform new studies on cell cultures in collaboration with post docs and students. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and / or Competencies

  • Experience in experimental design
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and document management
  • Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture techniques
  • Experience with stem cell culture and extracellular vesicle analysis
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail for maintaining accurate records
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
  • Effective communication skills to interact with researchers, students, and external collaborators

Duties / Responsibilities Duties / Responsibilities Mammalian Cell Culture :

  • Maintain and propagate mammalian cell lines.
  • Perform routine cell culture maintenance, including media preparation and passage.
  • Execute experiments involving cell-based assays and treatments.
  • Stem Cell Culture :

  • Cultivate and expand stem cell lines under sterile conditions.
  • Differentiate stem cells into specific lineages.
  • Extracellular Vesicle Isolation and Analysis :

  • Isolate extracellular vesicles from cell culture supernatants or biological fluids.
  • Perform characterization assays such as nanoparticle tracking analysis and Western blotting.
  • Record Keeping :

  • Maintain meticulous records of experimental protocols, data, and results.
  • Ensure UGA compliance with lab protocols and safety standards.
  • Percentage of time 70 Duties / Responsibilities Research Study Design and Implementation :

  • Assist in designing experimental protocols and methodologies.
  • Collaborate with researchers to implement and troubleshoot experiments.
  • Percentage of time 10 Duties / Responsibilities Lab Management :

  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments.
  • Order and manage supplies and reagents to ensure adequate stock levels.
  • Coordinate with vendors for equipment servicing and maintenance.

  • Train undergraduate and graduate students, as well as visiting scientists, in laboratory techniques and safety protocols.
