The University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine, founded in 1946, is dedicated to training future veterinarians, providing services to animal owners and veterinarians, and conducting investigations to improve the health of animals as well as people. Position Summary

The Department of Biomedical Sciences needs to hire a Veterinary / Animal Science Professional in

response to federally-funded research projects related to the development of countermeasures for high containment infectious agents including SARS -CoV2, SARS -CoV1, influenza, Pox, and Rift Valley Fever viruses as well as the bacteria Burkholderia mallei and Burkholderia pseudomallei.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and / or Competencies

The position requires you to have BSL2, ABSL2, BSL3, ABSL3 and BSL3-Ag laboratory experience and certification with bacteria and viruses.

Physical Demands

Perform duties, working in BSL2, ABSL2, BSL3, ABSL3 and BSL3-Ag laboratories,working with select agents, and will have experience with models of infection including small (mice, hamsters, ferrets) and large (pigs, non-human primates, cows) animal species.

Design and execute experiments -

Investigate the effects of small molecules, mRNAs, proteins, lipid nanoparticles, and polymers on cellular viability in vitro, including developing experimental protocols, preparing samples, collecting data using viral and bacterial quantitation assays, animal tissue analyses, recording clinical observations of mice, hamsters, swine, cattle, and non-human primates, analyzing results statistically, and documenting findings in detail
