Position Information Position Title Public Safety Dispatcher FLSA Classification NE Reports to Assigned Shift Sergeant Salary Range H1 Weeks Per Year 52 Work Week 40 hours (minimum) Position Summary Provides specialized security and communications services for the University, receiving and transmitting routine and emergency radio and telephone calls for service, prioritizing response needs and dispatching information to field officers and / or sergeants as appropriate. Performs all duties in full support of the University’s mission understanding that the positive and effective execution of these duties are instrumental to the education of the University’s students. Hiring Range Starting salary is $21.91 per hour Key Responsibilities Key Responsibilities
- Monitors several fire and intrusion alarm systems as well as closed circuit television (CCTV) systems, dispatching calls for service to appropriate internal and external personnel as necessary and appropriate. Takes appropriate action and ensures follow through when needed.
- Assists all students, faculty, staff and visitors to the Public Safety Dispatch office, providing information and other assistance as necessary and appropriate.
- Develops, cultivates and maintains effective working relationships with all members of the University community including faculty, staff and students.
- Utilizes and maintains Public Safety logs on a computerized information system to record all daily activities and other pertinent departmental information required in order for other personnel to complete their duties and responsibilities in an effective and timely manner.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Monitors all key card access control systems on campus. Assumes responsibility for the accurate disbursement of University keys, following established key issuing procedures.
- Utilizing established University and departmental protocols, issues parking permits to faculty, staff, students, visitors and other guests of the University, as necessary and appropriate. Process payments for permits, fines and fees in accordance with University and departmental parking policies and procedures. Follows all policies and procedures for cash management.
