Duties and Responsibilities:

- *Works with stakeholders in direct operation, oversight, and promotion of the Math Lab with the objective of providing support services to individuals and groups of Leeward Community College students taking mathematics, science, and other quantitative courses, both physically in the Math Lab and virtually over the Internet, as appropriate.
- *Works with coordinators and instructors to identify, locate, and develop remedial and/or supplemental arithmetic, algebraic, and/or statistical support materials and resources for students enrolled in mathematics, science, and other quantitative courses offered at Leeward Community College.
- *Participates in the organization and implementation of campus-wide events, such as the Discovery Fair and Pi Day, to promote the Math Lab and its services to wide audiences.
- *Recruits, trains, schedules, and supervises student tutors.
- *Provides tutorial assistance to students at times when tutors are unavailable or are ill-equipped to provide assistance due to the material in question.
- Inventories and takes appropriate steps to preserve Math Lab assets.
- *Promotes Math Lab services to stakeholders on an individual, small-group, and/or class-section level.
- *Develops and maintains comprehensive budgets for Math Lab operations.
- *Develops and maintains expertise in the mathematical content and pedagogy of math, science, and other quantitative reasoning courses taught at Leeward CC.
- *Collects and maintains data related to Math Lab services and prepares and submits various reports on the Math Lab.
- Performs relevant duties as assigned, especially during non-instructional periods.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications:
- Possession of a baccalaureate degree in mathematics or related field with coursework in single-variable, multi-variable, and vector calculus; and 0 year(s) of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for teaching/tutoring developmental and undergraduate mathematics; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
- Functional knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in the area of teaching/tutoring developmental and undergraduate mathematics demonstrated by knowledge, understanding and ability to apply concepts, terminology.
- Functional knowledge and understanding of principles, theories, federal and state laws, rules, regulations and systems associated with Math Labs or other learning centers.
- Demonstrated ability to recognize problems, identify possible causes and resolve the full range problems that may commonly occur in the area of teaching/tutoring developmental and undergraduate mathematics education.
- Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written documentation, write reports and procedures, and communicate effectively in a variety of situations.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team members and individuals.
- Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer, apply word processing software, and spreadsheets.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Progressively responsible experience working in a Math Lab or similar tutorial unit.
- Experience supervising student assistants in a college setting.
- Demonstrated expertise using learning management system, video conferencing, and instructional software programs.
