Duties:
- Serves as a Statistics Tutor for the Psychology Department, providing students taking courses in psychology with tutoring assistance in statistics and associated research methodology both during class time as well out of class.
- Serves as Teaching Assistant in PSY 213 and PSY 214 where duties include holding regularly scheduled office hours to provide one-on-one and small group assistance to psychology students using and understanding statistical techniques and research methods and as needed assisting in lecture and laboratory and proctoring exams.
- Assists professors in evaluating student work related to statistics and research methods.
- Available to statistics students in other Social Science majors.
- Other duties related to knowledge and use of statistics and research methods as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in psychology or related field and 1 year of professional experience in providing tutoring in statistics; or equivalent education/experience that provides the necessary education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
- Experience and skills in using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences {SPSS), Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
- Well organized, completes assigned tasks in a timely manner, can meet deadlines, interfaces well with students and supervisors.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Master's degree in psychology or related field.
- Excellent grades in higher level courses in statistics techniques and research methods in psychology.
- Prior experience tutoring college students in statistics.
