The School of Life Sciences (SoLS), College of Natural Sciences, University of Hawai‘i at Manoa (Honolulu, Hawai‘i) invites applicants for the position of Instructor in the Molecular Cell Biology undergraduate program.
This is a non-tenure track, full-time, 9-month, faculty appointment, to begin August 01, 2025, subject to position clearance and availability of funds. Review of applications will begin on February 10, 2025, and will continue until the position is filled.

Duties:
- Teaching 12 semester hours (or equivalent) per semester, the primary responsibility will be for lower-division courses such as Introduction to Biology (BIOL 171/L), and Intro to Cell and Molecular Biology (BIOL 275/L). Possibilities for teaching at the upper division include, Research Ethics (MICR 314), Genetics (BIOL 375/L), Immunology (MICR 461/L), or other courses as appropriate to the successful candidate’s background.
- Participate in SoLS committees and events as appropriate.
- Perform related tasks as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- A Master’s degree in Molecular Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or related discipline, from a college or university of recognized standing, with the major work in the field in which the instructional assignment is made.
- Evidence in ability to teach effectively and to direct group discussions.
- Interest in the educational development of college students
- Professionalism in meeting and conferring with others.
Desirable qualifications include:
- Ph.D. in Molecular Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or related discipline.
- Experience teaching high enrollment (>60) lecture courses with multiple lab sections.
- Experience teaching diverse student populations.
- Interest in innovating pedagogical approaches to increase student engagement
- Expertise in areas of molecular and cellular biology that expand UHM student training opportunities
