Fall and Spring Semester; Summer Sessions.  

Part-time Lecturer applicant pool. 

Non-tenure, pending availability of funds and actual staffing requirements. 

Evening, weekend, distance education, television and or off-campus classes for UH Maui College and or Outreach sites (Lanai and Molokai) may be assigned as part of regular workload.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Teach assigned courses in the discipline qualified for.
  2. Maintain minimum of one office hour per week for each course taught. 
  3. Prepare course syllabi, grading and reports related to teaching and student progress
  4. Work under supervision of discipline coordinator/division chairperson in integrating teaching efforts with other instructors in the discipline area.
  5. May include instructional assignments involving distance education.
  6. Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

Applied Studio

Master’s Degree in Art or Fine Art

OR

Master recognition by Applied Art Community AND 10 years related work experience

New Media

Master’s in Fine arts in Studio Art with the specialization in new media art or a related area of study (i.e. design, animation, digital art, digital media, multi -media, computer graphics, film, etc.) AND one (1) year related industry experience

OR

Any Master’s Degree with coursework in mew media art or a related area of study AND three (3) years related industry experience

OR

Any Bachelor’s Degree with coursework in mew media art or a related area of study AND five (5) years related industry experience

OR

Any Associate’s Degree with coursework in mew media art or a related area of study AND seven (7) years related industry experience

History and Theory

Master’s Degree in Art OR Art History 

All minimum qualifications must be from an accredited institution and met by the effective date of appointment. If qualified applicants are not available, those not meeting the minimum qualifications may be considered on an exception basis.

Desirable Qualifications:

  1. Successful community college and or university teaching experience in the field
  2. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse student populations
  3. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively
  4. Ability to use writing assignments and integrate teaching of appropriate thinking skills in to course content as an integral part of student's classroom learning activities
