Other Conditions: Lecturer applicant pool for Fall 2025. Positions are part-time, temporary, non-tenure, and contingent upon course offerings, sufficient student enrollment, position clearance and availability of funding. Must be available to teach courses during the day, evening, weekend, and/or via distance learning, as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Teach elementary and intermediate level of Mandarin Chinese language
- Teach Chinese studies content courses
- Prepare course schedule, syllabus, and reports relating to teaching and student progress.
- Maintain a minimum of one office hour per week for each course taught
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a field relevant to Chinese language and culture, such as Chinese language pedagogy, Chinese literature, Chinese history, or Asian studies with an emphasis on Chinese culture.
- Native or near-native proficiency in Chinese and English
- Must be proficient in modern Chinese pinyin (romanization) spelling system
- Must have a standard accent of Mandarin Chinese
- Some experience of teaching Chinese language at college level or to the community adults
Desirable Qualifications
- Ph.D. degree in a field related to Chinese language and culture.
- At least one-year experience of teaching Chinese culture content courses at college level.
