Duties and Responsibilities: Explains the College’s admissions and records, policies, procedures, and transfer credit evaluations to students, staff, faculty, and community members.Performs transfer credit evaluations which require articulation of multiple courses from University of Hawaii (UH) campuses and other external higher educational institutions.Provides support to the Registrar and the Admissions and Records office with transfer credit evaluation-related issues.Assists Counselors with academic advising, assist students with developing an educational plan in STAR, and direct students to on-campus and off-campus resources.Provides general information to potential and current students and the general public about the services provided by the Palamanui Office of Student Services (OSS).Directs students and the general public to on-campus and off-campus resources when appropriate.Assists in scheduling counseling and advising appointments for academic, career, counseling.Assists in developing and managing various methods of communication with students on advising related services via in-person, telephone, group, print, email, and web contacts.Facilitates with the development of methods (i.e. website, manuals, brochures) to communicate student advising and onboarding information to students, staff, faculty, and community members.Facilitates in developing, updating and preparing advising and marketing materials for the department.Assists in facilitating workshops for at risk students, new student orientations, and other student retention activities.Inputs and retrieves data information from Banner and Academic Logic for reports including but not limited to graduation, student enrollment, and early college.Ensures that student information released is in compliance with FERPA, UH policies and procedures.Collaborates with other UH campuses, with enrollment services and student support services.Assists Palamanui OSS lead with general supervision of student employees.Duties may include working outside of normally scheduled hours, including nights and weekends.Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications: Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Education, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Communications, or related field and 1 year(s) of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for post-secondary student services and/or academic advising; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated. Functional knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in the area of student services and/or academic advising as demonstrated by knowledge, understanding and ability to apply concepts, terminology.Functional knowledge and understanding of principles, theories, federal and state laws, rules, regulations and systems associated with student services and/or academic advising.Demonstrated ability to recognize problems, identify possible causes and resolve the full range problems that may commonly occur in the student services office.Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written documentation, write reports and procedures, and communicate effectively in a variety of situations.Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team members and individuals.Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software.
