The College of Global Population Health at University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis (UHSP) is seeking an adjunct instructor to create and teach Foundations of Epidemiology for our BS in Public Health program, with a preference for a local candidate. We are looking for the selected adjunct to create the course during the spring 2025 semester and then teach the course during the fall 2025 semester. This 3-credit hour course should be designed to expose undergraduate students to a variety of epidemiological principles and an array of practice opportunities that they will apply as future health care leaders and professionals. You will also work closely with the Public Health Program Director to ensure the course is developed to the Council of Education on Public Health (CEPH) standards. This course may also serve as an elective for other students enrolled in various programs at UHSP, including Pharm.D. students. After development, the foundations of epidemiology course would then be taught in the Fall 2025 semester preferably in-person on campus, and hybrid teaching (i.e., in-person and online) may be an option for the preferred candidate.
Compensation will be commensurate with experience and education for course development and teaching.
You will have the opportunity to:
- Develop and design the course, create and deliver lectures, prepare and administer tests and assignments, and conduct the grading of all course-related work.
- Provide dynamic and effective teaching of a 3-credit hour foundations of epidemiology course.
- Be available for contact by students at arranged times out of class.
- Communicate regularly with full-time faculty in the COGPH at UHSP, especially the Program Director of the Public Health program.
- Follow UHSP teaching and faculty guidelines for adjunct faculty.
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you will need:
Minimum Qualifications
- A Master’s degree or Ph.D. in public health or a closely related field with demonstrated knowledge of course subject matter.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience teaching at the undergraduate level preferred.
- Willingness to incorporate diversity, cultural-competency and social justice into teaching.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise or experience teaching undergraduate students
- Proficiency with learning management systems such as D2L Brightspace
- Course development of undergraduate courses in an academic setting
