University of Holy Cross is looking for a Nursing Department Chair responsible for leading and managing its Nursing Department. This role is pivotal in ensuring the delivery of high-quality nursing education, fostering academic excellence and innovative teaching that meets the needs for nurses in the community, and committing to education of the minds and hearts of students. The Nursing Department Chair will lead curriculum development, faculty recruitment, and student success initiatives while maintaining compliance with accreditation standards and institutional policies. The candidate should possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of nursing education, experience in nursing partnerships with hospitals and healthcare organizations, and a commitment to the mission / values of University of Holy Cross.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE :
- Minimum of a graduate degree in nursing, plus an earned doctorate
- Minimum of three years’ experience in nursing education
- Minimum of three years’ experience in clinical practice
- An unencumbered Louisiana Nursing license

Administrative
Promote a sense of intellectual community, shared vision, and adherence to the University’s mission and core values.Recruit, select, and recommend faculty to fill vacancies of approvedEvaluate and recommend reappointment of full and part-timeResolve faculty and student complaints within the Department. Maintain documentation of conflicts and Refer unresolved complaints to the appropriate Dean or Provost.Provide orientation and mentoring for new facultyEnsure compliance of Departmental faculty with directives, policies, and procedures mandated by Academic Affairs and / or the University.Determine workload for the DepartmentalMonitor academic advising of students in the department, asCoordinate scheduling of courses and work with Offices of the Registrar and Academic Affairs each semester.Review and revise Departmental information in the UniversityProvide information needed for issuance of contracts eachConfirm completion of graduation requirements for students in coordination with academic advisors and the Registrar.Assist in preparation, administration and evaluation of the Department’sServe as the primary contact for the Department with other administrative units of the University; assist in general University activities as needed.Update Departmental information on the University’s Web site and in theServe as a member of the Academic Council and other University committees as designated.Conduct monthly Department meetings; assure minutes that include an attendance roster are taken and maintained.Assure both interdisciplinary and interdepartmental collaboration and communication.Accreditation, Planning, Assessment
Oversee preparation of degree program institutional effectiveness plans, assuring faculty collaboration in the plan.Assure SACS-COC requirements are maintained and kept up toAssure accreditation standards and reports are maintained and kept up to date.Assure LSBN regulations are maintained and kept up to dateAssure all annual reports are completed (ACEN, AACN, NLN, LSBN).Responsible for first time NCLEX pass rates and graduation rates.Serve as liaison with clinical agencies.Monitor and promote the progress of the University Strategic Plan as it pertains to theCurriculum, Recruitment, Retention
