Job Summary
The Coordinator for the Center for Student Advocacy and Community is responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing educational, personal, and academic support programs for all students, including underrepresented student groups, first-time in college, first-generation students, former foster care students, and pregnant & parenting students, and underserved students. Assists in transition and retention programs, mentorship initiatives, and developing well-being, academic support, and engagement opportunities through Student Success and Student Life. The Coordinator coordinates functions related to recruitment, marketing, partnerships, program accreditation, strengthening relationships, and event programming.
Duties
- Develops and coordinates outreach and support programs for all students, including first-time in college, first-generation, former foster care, pregnant and parenting students, and other underrepresented student populations
- Promotes coordination and communication between campus and community groups and organizations
- Works with students to get them connected to resources on and off campus to support their student success
- Develop community-building initiatives for students to engage in developing a common understanding, sharing perspectives, and creating spaces for student support and success
- Advocate for students within the campus community through the development of resources, programs, and support systems
- Responsible for assessing target student population needs, programs, outreach, and initiatives regarding success, learning outcomes, and retention
Marginal Duties
- Performs all other duties as assigned
- May need to stay abreast of governmental and other local agency's guidelines that may impact program activities
- May be required to work outside regular business hours
- May provide support to faculty
- May interact with other departments to promote the goals and objectives of the program
- May perform web design and post social media announcements
- May ensure program objectives such as program accreditation are carried out and maintain program by-laws
- May require travel

- May regularly assign work to subordinate(s)

- May train and counsel subordinate(s)
- May provide feedback to a supervisor regarding other employees' performance, but does not make hiring and dismissal recommendations

- Knowledge of trends, issues, and accepted practices relevant to the position
Skills:
- Candidates must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Abilities:
- Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently and the ability to undertake complex planning
- Ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community
- Ability to apply independently a wide variety of policies/procedures where specified guidelines may not exist
Work Location and Physical Demands
Primary Work Location:
- Works in an office environment
Physical Demands:
- Work is performed in a typical interior work environment that does not subject the employee to any unpleasant elements
- The individual has discretion in relation to walking, standing, etc., and has minimal exposure to physical risks
Qualifications
Required Education:
- Bachelor's degree
Required Experience:
- Minimum of three (3) years of related job experience
License/Certification:
- Must maintain a valid, current driver's license
Preferred Qualifications
- Higher education experience
