Receives emergency and non-emergency requests from the University community and dispatches calls to University Police Officers utilizing the computer aided dispatch system as the primary mode of operation.
Certification/Licensing: Requires technical certification or licensing directly related to the job, as specified on the job posting details. *Prefer 2 years directly-related job experience. Intermediate Telecommunicator Certification through TCLEOSE.
Employees are required to work various assigned shifts, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends, and may be required to remain at their post for an additional shift. Additionally, employees are required to work holidays and overtime. All staff are considered 'essential personnel' and are required to report to work during inclement weather.

Description
Receives emergency and non-emergency requests from the University community and dispatches calls to University Police Officers utilizing the computer aided dispatch system as the primary mode of operation.
- Responds to requests for service, information and other business that comes into the Police Department by telephone, emergency call box or made in person at the public service window.
- Transmits requests for service and related information to the appropriate Police Officer.
- Inputs information into a computer database; reviews and corrects data as necessary.
- Monitors campus fire and burglar alarm systems, acknowledges triggered alarms, and dispatches officers when needed.
- Operates radio consoles, portable radios, Dictaphone recorder, Telecopier, and other equipment located in the Communication Center.
- Issues equipment and supplies such as radios, batteries and keys to department personnel and maintains related records.
- May provide guidance and training to new dispatchers.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
