Overview:
AmeriCorps members commit their time to address critical community needs such as increasing academic achievement, mentoring youth, and preparing for disasters.
4-H AmeriCorps members provide direct service implementing science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) programming through camps and in-school and out-of-school enrichment programs.

Youth Development Instructors serving with Teton County Extension support this mission by:
Essential functions:
- Coordinating afterschool program and Friday day camps in partnership with Above and Beyond the Classroom (ABC) in Teton Valley
- Planning and delivering STEM education activities to youth
- Preparing and reviewing STEM lessons to meet intended audience age and developmental needs
- Attending monthly resource meetings with AmeriCorps program staff
- Attending weekly check-in meetings with site staff
- Engaging 5 volunteers
- Managing supplies and equipment inventory used in programs
- Collecting data for program evaluation including attendance, participant demographics, and youth assessments
- Completing required reports including timesheets, program evaluations, youth assessments, activity logs on a regular basis
- Attending required AmeriCorps program orientation and training during 1st week of service that includes review of AmeriCorps prohibited and unallowable activities
- Participating in 2 AmeriCorps National Service projects
- Working with host site to develop and maintain community partnerships
- Promoting activities to maximize engagement through written or oral presentations such as flyers and social media advertising
- Attending Serve Idaho Conference in February 2025
- Communicating openly with Site Supervisor and Program Director
Non-Essential Functions:
- Selecting and completing relevant professional development training that relates to personal growth needs
- Planning service projects that engage youth and community members
- Developing STEM curriculum
- Attending conferences and trainings as requested by program or site
- Engaging in host site staff meetings and other activities to support the general community
- Serving as 4-H leaders or event volunteers
Qualifications:
- 17 years or older
- U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or lawful permanent resident
- High school diploma/GED equivalent
- Satisfy the National Service Criminal History Check eligibility criteria
- Willingness to travel for required AmeriCorps and site training and service days
- Outgoing and comfortable working with the public (youth and adults) and volunteers
- Self-motivated and able to work independently
- Dedicated to interacting professionally and maintaining a professional appearance
- Previous experience in teaching or instructing preferred

- Member Living Allowance of $23,700 paid in allotments of $987.50 every two weeks

Terms:
- The member will serve 1,700 hours total over their term of service

- Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle
