Position Responsibilities

Position Summary

This position is responsible for overseeing the implementation of a rangeland monitoring program. The incumbent will lead a field crew, assure quality assurance of monitoring data, compile data, write summary reports, manage budgets, help with monitoring / sampling design and assist with training field crews, and ensure compliance with UI policies and procedures.

Collect, compile and summarize program data for reports
Maintain program budgets, monitoring and reviewing transactions for compliance with program requirements
Participate in the development and implementation of program deliverables, services and activities
Participate in developing program operating goals, objectives and protocols
Active participation in the development and submission of program proposals

Coordinate a team with a variety array of talents and responsibilities

Lead collection and compilation of monitoring data

Manage the work of others and lead the field crew to accomplish assigned goals

Ensure field crew conducts tasks safely and follows UI protocols.

Lead QA / QC of data and conduct initial data exploration

Support efforts to utilize the monitoring data for research and outreach

Support other research, monitoring, outreach, or administrative efforts within the unit.

Position Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; four years of experience in coordinating a monitoring program may substitute for a Bachelor's Degree

Experience in natural resources monitoring

Working in a team environment to accomplish shared goals

Collecting, compiling, summarizing and analyzing data for administrative reports

Ability to obtain an Idaho's driver's license and to travel to field locations

Independent problem solving and performing tasks efficiently and accurately with minimal supervision

Attention to detail and ability to multitask

Knowledge of the common grasses, forbs, and shrubs of Idaho's rangelands

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in rangeland ecology or other natural resources field

Master's degree in natural resources or similar field

Ability to design and implement a monitoring program that utilizes approved monitoring methods

Experience in a research setting

Program coordination or management experience

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

Ability to regularly lift, carry and / or otherwise move 50 lbs

Ability to work outside of normal working hours as necessary to perform job duties

Ability to work alone or in a team environment
