The University of Idaho’s Department of Curriculum & Instruction and the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences are pleased to announce the availability of a full-time 9-month tenure-track assistant professor position in Indigenous Pedagogy. We aim to recruit a dynamic educator to teach and develop undergraduate and graduate courses in one or more of the following areas: elementary or secondary social studies, science methods or literacy, educational foundations, or Indigenous theories of learning, and graduate classes in Indigenous research methods. The ideal candidate will establish a focused line of scholarly inquiry and publication and grant submission record in Indigenous education and pedagogy that contributes to the Indigenous Knowledge for Effective Education Program (IKEEP) and cross-college Center for Interdisciplinary Indigenous Research and Education (CIIRE). Expectations of the position also include a commitment to advising undergraduate and graduate students and providing service (e.g., recruitment, retention, graduate accreditation) and outreach within the Teacher Education Program. The ideal candidate will foster collaborations with Idaho’s Tribal Nations, the University of Idaho’s 11 signatory MOU Tribes, and regional education partners serving Indigenous youth. The ideal candidate will contribute to and expand EHHS’s capacity to develop teacher education, leadership, and professional development programs that address the needs of Tribal Nations and schools serving Native students. The candidate will contribute to innovative grant seeking efforts which build collaboration within the department and more broadly across the university and in schools and the community to address the needs of rural and Indigenous contexts of education. There is an opportunity for summer employment if grant funded or teaching, to be negotiated annually with the Department Chair/Dean.
