The University Residence Manager is responsible for the general organization, maintenance and management of the university-owned residence of the President of University of Idaho.
Position Overview
The University Residence Manager manages all aspects of internal and external home management including housekeeping, dining, facilities, procurement of supply services, events, personal services and special assignments.
This position is expected to conduct assessments of the residence depending on the practical need of the residents. The Manager also will perform some of the light duty routine maintenance and is the initial point of contact for the residence and communicates regularly with a variety of internal/external contacts to coordinate all aspects of the house management. Advanced planning and coordination of services is essential to ensuring that the house is maintained and managed at the desired level. This position will report to Auxiliary Services.
The work is generally performed at the convenience of the residents’ schedules. During non-peak times, the position may support other residential spaces on campus. The business is full time, but the daily schedule may vary due to events and maintenance.

Required Experience
- Two years experience in facility management which includes leading, implementing, supervising, evaluating and strategic planning as well as providing strategic leadership guidance within area of responsibility
- Demonstrated customer service experience
- Organizational and communication skills with attention to detail
- Handle confidential matters/information with discretion.
- Successfully and positively interact and communicate with individuals at all levels of an organization.
- Work independently in a fast-paced environment and be flexible with changing priorities.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must have valid driver’s license and ability to meet U of I driving requirements
- Work a nonstandard schedule which may include early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays as needed to meet business needs of the office
- Managing multiple projects with competing timelines
- Maintaining a calm and professional demeanor in a high-stress environment, identifying and independently resolving problems swiftly
- Developing and implementing programs, activities, and large-scale projects, which include conceptualizing, coordinating detailed plans, and following through to meet deadlines
- Ability to multitask
- Experience with home management/operations including housekeeping/cleaning techniques and facilities management services
- Work experience on a higher educational residential campus
- Must be able to:
- Operate standard equipment, including but not limited to vacuum, buffer, floor machine, wet/dry vacuum, etc.
- Climb ladders, bend and stoop
- Lift, carry or otherwise move items weighing up to 50 pounds
- Stand and walk continuously throughout the workday
- Work in inclement weather conditions
