The UIC Department of Intercollegiate Athletics invites applicants for the Assistant Athletic Trainer position to join our team of dedicated and highly skilled professionals. The Assistant Athletic Trainer is responsible for the evaluation and assessment of injuries and illness, administer treatment and provides care, prevention, and rehabilitative services for student-athletes. Additionally, provide practice and competitive event coverage.
Duties & Responsibilities
•Administer treatment and provide post-surgery rehabilitation of injuries. •Instruct athletes on injury prevention. •Administer game and practice activities including taping and stretching of athletes. •Provide medical coverage of athletic games and practices. Assess injuries and give treatment. •Act as liaison to between student athlete, parents, doctors, coaches, and athletic department. •Research, assess and implement injury prevention and rehabilitation techniques. •Adhere to all University, Conference and NCAA rules and regulations. •Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Job Knowledge & Skills, Education, Experience
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in kinesiology or a related field and a minimum of two years’ experience are required.
National Athletic Trainers’ Association certification and State of Illinois Department of Professional Regulation license required. Knowledge of Conference rules and regulations.
CPR and safety certifications.
Direct knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations required.
Knowledge of MS office applications.
Effective communication skills.
