The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine at the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria seeks a psychiatrist with strong interest in graduate medical education to lead the development of a collaborative care model in the region. The position is full-time at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.
Our department has worked closely with community partners to prepare for the development of a collaborative care model for the area. With exceptional facilities across a three-county region, we seek a motivated leader to guide the creation of a team-based model of care that integrates psychiatric practice in primary care settings. The success of our other clinical and educational programs and the experience of the current faculty offer ample support to the incoming Director. Candidates should share our values for high-quality patient care, the education of residents and medical students, and the promotion of scholarly activity. The ideal candidate will have meaningful administrative experience, excellent teaching and communication skills, and be eager to lead. Competitive salary and benefits are commensurate with rank.
The responsibilities of the position include development and oversite of a collaborative care program, promoting a culture of excellence, staff management, teaching, and scholarship. Other duties will be tailored to the interest of the applicant and include opportunities in adult inpatient and outpatient clinical care, college student mental health, scholarship, and classroom teaching. The department values and supports the growth, development, and professional advancement of its faculty members.
Minimum requirements include licensed or license-eligible in the state of Illinois and ABPN board-certification or board-eligibility in adult psychiatry.
Position Summary
The faculty member will will work with the Department Chair to develop collaborative care services for individuals and families in the community. The faculty member will provide guidance and oversight to an emerging enterprise to facilitate the mission of the department for clinical care, education, scholarship, and outreach.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and lead a collaborative care model in Central Illinois
- Direct patient care
- Supervision and teaching of general psychiatry residents and medical students
- Function as a University faculty member, performing such duties as are appropriate to academic rank and position
- MD or DO graduate of an LCME/AACOM-accredited medical school
- Licensed or license-eligible in the state of Illinois
- ABPN board-certified or board-eligible in adult psychiatry
- Experience in inpatient and outpatient psychiatry
- Experience in integrative, collaborative, or consultation medicine
