Position Summary
The position coordinates all the data management and database activity for the Blood and Marrow Transplant Program. Maintains all transplant data; monitors and distributes necessary transplant related information to community physicians, and referring hematologists; gathers, reviews, analyzes and reports on the transplant programs to its stakeholders; assists in defining specifications of informational requirements and operational needs.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Monitors regulatory agency requirements for policy changes and compliance. These agencies may include CMS, FACT, CIBMTR, NMDP and other heath care providers or regulatory agencies.
- Analyze data and prepare clinical outcome data/reports.
- Cross-train with transplant QAPI staff to provide coverage
- Assist with preparing and presenting data at the quarterly BMT QI meeting, and other meetings as requested.
- Provide data for research and scholarly activities as requested.
- Provide data for various audits and corrective action plans as needed.
- Supply data for insurance requests for information [RFI], and other governmental or regulatory bodies as requested these may include public aid Illinois.
- Validate data in program specific data base for CMTBIR, NMDP, BMT info Net and other as applicable to the program.
- Write and update policies and guidelines as needed based on changes in regulatory guidelines or in response to department needs.
- Supervise the orientation and work performance of the lower level staff.'
- Create data reports from existing databases based on needs analysis of health system leadership, clinicians, and teams and research of best practice.
- Interacts with decision support and informatics professionals to determine efficient capture and merging of information from optimal sources and access to business intelligence tools to generate reports.
- Assists in design of warehouse data sets to provide easy customer access to an integrated repository of clinical, financial, and demographic data supporting the health system’s analysis, planning, and improvement needs.
- Utilizes software to generate trended run chart displays and statistical process control charts.
- Assists in analysis of data sets/reports, including interpretation of statistical trends and patterns of variation and implications for improvement initiatives.
- Participates in education/training of individuals or teams on data analysis and interpretation.
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Science, Information Management, Healthcare Information, Nursing, Information Technology, Computer Science, Statistics, Finance, Management Engineering, Business or closely related fields or as required by the position to be filled in the area of specialization inherent in the position may be required.
- One (1) year (12 months) of data management/analyst work experience in a clinical or healthcare related field.
- Applicants possessing a Master's degree, in a closely related field, meet the requirements for #1 above
