Position Summary
The Division of Cardiology, Department of Medicine at the University of Illinois Chicago, is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator to participate in research activities of the Division.
This position supports the coordination and timely handling of all components of clinical research protocols, including pre- and post-research activities, internal and external to the clinical setting, actively participating in subject recruitment, screening, scheduling, testing, and data management for multi-faceted clinical trials.
Duties & Responsibilities
A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in health science or related field required.
At least two years of experience in a research discipline is required.
Experience in a clinical research setting and experience working with Federal Regulations and IRB are required.
Prior experience with medical terminology and procedures, including electronic medical records and billing, is preferred.
Ability to manage multiple tasks. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills. Requires excellent communication, organization, presentation, and computer/pc skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other related software.
Knowledge of research protocols, principles and procedures; knowledge of aspects of clinical trials such as screening, interviewing; knowledge of experimental design, statistics, computer applications and data management; oral and written communication skills is preferred
Highly desirable – fluency in Spanish

The Division of Cardiology, Department of Medicine at the University of Illinois Chicago, is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator to participate in research activities of the Division.
This position supports the coordination and timely handling of all components of clinical research protocols, including pre- and post-research activities, internal and external to the clinical setting, actively participating in subject recruitment, screening, scheduling, testing, and data management for multi-faceted clinical trials.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Support the maintenance of clinical protocols, including review and completion of submissions, amendments, and adverse event reports as required by the UIC Institutional Review Board (IRB), Protocol Review Committee and grant sponsors.
- Assist physicians and clinical staff in the identification, recruitment, and enrollment of patients.
- Execute informed consent process and monitor patient status; Enroll patients into programs, explain the research protocols to the patients, and obtain appropriate consent forms.
- Ensure client enrollment and research activities comply with established protocols, regulatory and monitoring agency standards, and grant sponsor guidelines.
- Participate in conducting surveys of clients and parents.
- Collect and review client evaluations/assessments, surveys, and participant interviews to develop reports for the PI and appropriate agencies and grant sponsors.
- Evaluate and analyze data.
- Assist investigators in organizing study data for grant progress reports, analysis for meeting presentations, and publications.
- Coordinate outreach to and liaison with staff throughout the community to make research presentations and recruit new patients for various research projects.
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
