The Position:
Department of Oral Biology at the University of Illinois Chicago College of Dentistry is seeking a highly motivated full-time Postdoctoral Research Associate who will conduct research activities under the supervision of the Principal Investigators, Dr. Ana Bedran-Russo. The postdoctoral research associate will engage in interdisciplinary research centered on fundamental and translational studies on artificial and biological interfaces on mineralized dental tissues and bioinspired modulation strategies for development of novel dental biomaterials.

Department of Oral Biology at the University of Illinois Chicago College of Dentistry is seeking a highly motivated full-time Postdoctoral Research Associate who will conduct research activities under the supervision of the Principal Investigators, Dr. Ana Bedran-Russo. The postdoctoral research associate will engage in interdisciplinary research centered on fundamental and translational studies on artificial and biological interfaces on mineralized dental tissues and bioinspired modulation strategies for development of novel dental biomaterials.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Carry-out various experimental studies, become well-versed in multi-scale mechanical analytical methods, spectroscopic assays for biochemical characterizations, high-resolution imaging, and cell viabilities studies.
- Use of data management program and perform data analysis.
- Prepare reports and peer review manuscripts, (d) mentoring and training of students.
- Collaborate with PI to develop an independent research program.
- May participate in teaching in the predoctoral/postdoctoral education.
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
- Must have received a doctorate within the last five years and academic track-record including first-author publications in peer-reviewed journals.
- PhD in Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Material Sciences, Biomaterials or related field.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Must have excellent organizational and communication skills, and strong work ethics.
- Strong background in at least one of the following areas: extracellular matrix biochemistry, biomechanics, mineralized tissue or biomineralization.
- Proficiency in protein quantitative analytical methods, atomic force microscopy, dynamic mechanical techniques, and ultrastructure imaging
