Position Summary:
The renal dietitian performs clinical assessment of patients, designs nutrition protocols and quality improvement initiatives with the medical team, develops meal plans for dialysis patients, develops enteral and parenteral regimens, establishes nutritional guidelines for patients and families. This individual demonstrates experience with nutrition problems in dialysis patients as well as all renal nutrition problems.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Monitor lab values and progress toward goals and plans
- Develop personalized meal plans specific to patient kidney function
- Counsel and educate to manage diet restrictions
- Manage fluid intake and recommendations
- Counsel patients about the use of vitamin supplements, medications and protein supplements
- Consult with the physicians, lab reviews
- Analysis of trends to guide care planning
- Patient support and motivation
- Train new staff and Dietetic Interns; coaching, teaching, and mentoring
- Preparation and presentation of staff in-services.
- Demonstrate renal experience.
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
- Possession of current Registered Dietitian licensure from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulations and credentials and registration from the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
