The Department of Pediatrics of the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria (UICOMP) seeks Infectious Disease candidates for the position of Assistant/Associate/Professor of Clinical Pediatrics, depending upon experience. This is a faculty position, as such requires providing clinical care, teaching medical students and residents, and participating in research and scholarly activities. Key Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Provide clinical services (inpatient mainly and outpatient).
  • Participate in teaching medical students, residents, and other health professionals.
  • Conduct clinical and/or translational research in the field of Pediatric Infectious Disease.
  • Participate in infection prevention and antibiotic stewardship committees.
  • Provide phone consultations for other hospitals and pediatric offices in Illinois.
  • Provide guidance for community outbreaks of infectious diseases.

Position Summary

Provide clinical care to patients admitted to Children's Hospital of Illinois and ambulatory clinics. Participate in teaching medical students and residents, and scholarly activities.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical services (inpatient and outpatient).
  • Participate in teaching medical students, residents, and other health professionals.
  • Conduct clinical and/or translational research in the field of Pediatric Infectious Disease.
  • Participate in infection prevention and antibiotic stewardship committees.
  • Provide phone consultations for other hospitals and Pediatric offices in Illinois.
  • Provide guidance for community outbreaks (measles and tuberculosis).
  • This a faculty position, as such requires providing clinical care, teaching medical students and residents, research, and scholarly activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD/DO degree or equivalent
  • BC/BE in Pediatric Infectious Disease
  • Will hold or eligible for an Illinois physician license

UICOMP is one of the three regional campuses of the University of Illinois College of Medicine, one of the largest public medical schools in the country. Jump Trading Simulation & Education Center, a part of OSF Innovation, is a collaboration between University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria and OSF HealthCare. Jump replicates a variety of patient care settings to ensure novice and seasoned clinicians can practice handling medical situations in a real-world environment. Boasting six floors and 168,000 square feet, the center is one of the largest of its kind and provides space for conferences, anatomic training, virtual reality and innovation.
