Job SummaryThis position focuses on customizing and facilitating the instructional content for workshops, retreats, orientations, and pilots of courses in design thinking and human-centered design within the Siebel Center for Design.
Duties & Responsibilities
Instruction
- Deliver workshops, field trips, retreats, guest lectures, and other learning experiences in human-centered design, using SCD’s taxonomy and mindsets.
- Collaboratively develop content for pilot courses focused on human-centered design.
- Instruct DTX courses as needed and support additional teaching opportunities within SCD’s educational mission.
- Adapt instructional delivery to meet the specific needs and contexts of diverse audiences.
- Work closely with Academic Programs leadership to develop program and course ideas into offerings.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and/or SCD’s Academic Programs team to customize human-centered design content for various audiences and contexts.
- Evaluate and iterate on existing course materials, workshops, and other learning experiences to enhance engagement and effectiveness.
- Collaborate with the SCD Academic Programs, Marketing and Design teams on developing and refining instructional materials such as presentation slideshows, workbooks and worksheets, facilitation tools, and case studies.
- Provide feedback and insights to continuously improve the quality of human-centered design content at SCD.
- Facilitate external training sessions tailored to human-centered design principles.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Experience Design, Human-Centered Design, or a related field.
- A total of one year of demonstrated experience delivering educational content and/or facilitating learning experiences.
- Terminal degree (PhD, MFA, MDes, or equivalent) in design, education, Instructional Design, or allied disciplines.
- Three (3) years (36 months) experience teaching design thinking or related coursework at an advanced level.
- Advanced knowledge of human-centered design principles.
- Strong presentation and facilitation skills, with the ability to adapt content to various audiences.
- Ability to travel across campus and to nearby client locations as needed.
