Applications are invited from qualified individuals for a 100% full-time non-tenure track, open rank, specialized faculty position the School of Information Sciences. Specialized faculty are expected to teach at the graduate and undergraduate levels and engage in research and service activities that enhance the mission of the school. We welcome candidates who can demonstrate the broader impact of their work in areas such as public health, agriculture, social media, misinformation, economics, history of science, finance, science of science, manufacturing, retail, transportation, education, and library sciences. Immediate teaching need is at the intersection of technology and the social impact of Data Science and includes (but is not limited to): Data management, Ethical data science, Data governance, Data storytelling and data visualization. The iSchool takes a human-centered approach to data science that considers the socio-technical context in which data is collected, and the impact of computational models in those settings. SPECIFIC DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSTeaching Professors deliver an effective and engaging classroom experience, publish on topics related to information research and scholarship, and engage in related pedagogical activities to make both an instructional impact and a curricular impact within and beyond the department. Candidates must possess a PhD. Preferred qualifications include a minimum of one year teaching experience equivalent to 2-3 courses. Lecturers deliver an effective and engaging classroom experience and support the department through service responsibilities. Candidates must have at least a master’s degree or equivalent degree and some professional experience. Preferred qualifications include and a minimum of one year teaching experience equivalent to 2-3 courses.SALARY AND APPOINTMENT INFORMATIONThis 100%-time academic specialized faculty position appointed on a 9-month service basis. The expected start date is August 16, 2025. The budgeted salary range for these positions is $85,000-$90,000 at the Lecturer Level, $90,000-$100,000 at the Teaching Assistant Professor level, $100,000-$105,000 at the Teaching Associate Professor level, and $105,000-$110,000 at the Teaching Professor level. The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate including equivalent years in rank, training, and field or discipline; internal equity; and external market pay for comparable jobs.
