Salary : The budgeted annual salary range for this position is $135,000 to $300,000. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience while also considering internal equity. Position Summary
The Assistant Dean for Graduate Medical Education serves as the Designated Institutional Official (DIO) for the sponsoring institution and is responsible for ensuring that the sponsoring institution and the individual residency programs are complying with the accreditation standards as set by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensure residency programs are in compliance with all Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) accreditation standards; conduct internal reviews for the college's residency programs as indicated; and oversee any program changes that require the approval of the ACGME.
- Serve as the Designated Institutional Official (DIO) for the sponsoring institution and as the chair of the graduate medical education committee.
- Develop policies that govern the institution's residency programs in order to comply with the ACGME accreditation requirements.
- Oversee the well-being of the residents and fellows and maintain ongoing feedback with the residents; monitor the program's supervision of residents and ensure that supervision is consistent with ACGME program requirements.
- Develop and support residency program directors; collaborate with Chicago and Peoria Graduate Medical Education (GME) leaders to promote consistent practices that support trainees and faculty in our programs; work with the residency chief(s) in establishing a residency council.
- Lead the organizational efforts to ensure compliance with the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education Clinical Learning Environment Review (ACGME CLER) program requirements; serve as the chair of both the internal and affiliated teams at Swedish American Hospital; ensure the clinical learning environment review (CLER) program requirements are in both the clinic and hospital settings.
- Improve the college's education program through mentoring of postdocs and through faculty development of the residency and fellowship faculty for all specialties.
- Provide annual reports for the executive committees of all participating training hospitals.
- Ensure institutional agreements are maintained with all clinical training sites.
- Oversee the Non-Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education accredited fellowship programs within the institution and develop new Non- Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) accredited fellowship programs within the institution.
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
