Position Summary
The University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria (UICOMP) is seeking a candidate full-time as the Director of Simulation with a focus on Clinical Simulation Education and Assessment. The individual will be based at the Peoria campus and will oversee the clinical simulation and education for medical students, residents, and faculty occurring at UICOMP.
Duties & Responsibilities
- In conjunction with the Assistant Dean for Faculty Development will design and implement educational programs for faculty development in use of clinical simulation, debriefing, and assessment.
- Collaborates with JUMP Simulation Center and the UIC COM Rockford and Chicago simulation teams for Undergraduate Medical Education Simulation Events.
- Design and evaluate clinical simulation curriculum to ensure that expected competencies are being taught to residents, fellows, and faculty.
- Oversees the collection of data on the simulation program and learning outcomes.
- Collaborates with faculty on disseminating findings through scholarly activity.
- Assist faculty in the development of curriculum related to clinical simulation-based education and assessment.
- Analyze current organizational status, identify needs, and develop organizational improvement plans.
- Prepare reports on program activities, standards, accreditation requirements, external meetings, educational concerns, and participant successes.
- Work with UICOMP faculty on simulation education, programs, training certification, research, and publications.
- Collaborate with pre-clinical, clinical, and preceptor faculty to facilitate the development of student/resident skills in: team communication, quality improvement, inter-professional coordination of care while reinforcing the principles of patient centered, high value medical care and evidence-based medicine.
- Initiate and maintain ongoing professional contacts with physicians, area health facilities, community organizations, and institutions.
- Supervise the simulation team and associated staff and redistribute workload as appropriate.
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
