Position Summary
This position collaborates with the Director and Writing Advisors to coordinate internal and external communications with students and all stakeholders to increase consistency of messaging to align with WRC's goals and raise the WRC's profile and reach.Lead communications and marketing strategy including initiating and leading content planning and implementing the marketing plan to increase visibility, usage, and impact of the WRC. In coordination with the Writing Resource Center Director and/or Marketing and Communications Department, create monitor slides, social media content, flyers, weekly newsletters, online resources, and other promotional material. Support WRC’s Director to design assessment tools and comprehensive assessment practices, identify appropriate qualitative or quantitative data, and create reports. This responsibility applies to all programmatic functions of the WRC. Support WRC’s Director to evaluate data on WRC programming, analyze data and make recommendations to enhance student learning and implement strategies for continuous improvement of students’ writing. Provide effective individual coaching to law students through face-to-face and virtual conferences, focusing on interconnected skills in all phases of the writing process and in group sessions. Assist the Director and WRC in preparing for meetings under a distributive leadership model, including organizing the agenda and accompanying documents, taking meeting minutes, and managing communications with Writing Advisors and stakeholders, along with any other assigned administrative responsibilities supporting WRC’s initiatives. Present workshops on various legal writing topics. Promote writing across the curriculum through collaboration with Lawyering Skills faculty, and the Academic Achievement and Bar Prep Program. Implement writing pedagogy and instruction throughout individualized or group interactions. Raise awareness about WRC services and its impact on students’ literacy skills. Supervise staff whose job responsibilities support the WRC as needed and assigned. Attend meetings as needed and assigned. Serve on relevant UIC committees as needed and assigned. Engage, as opportunities present, in national and regional service related to the legal writing discipline and writing center best practices. Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

This position will also work directly with students, providing effective coaching to promote understanding of the legal writing process, self-regulated learning, and other fundamental writing skills including grammar, punctuation, and citation while supporting the assessment WRC's overall programming.
