Director of Prospect Management and Data Analytics - Office of the Vice Chancellor for Advancement

Position Summary
The Director of Prospect Management and Data Analytics plays a critical role in achieving UIC's philanthropic and engagement goals by designing and implementing overall portfolio management strategy, guidelines, process, procedures, and training based on data and best practices to help build and support a sustainable donor pipeline.

This role will report to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Advancement Operations, Talent and Culture and work closely with executive and senior leadership across the organization including the Vice Chancellor for Advancement (VC), Associate/Assistant Vice Chancellors for Advancement (AVCs), and senior/executive directors of development. The position leads a team that provides strategic assistance by ensuring portfolio health and providing strategic data insights to help solve business needs.

Duties & Responsibilities

Develops and executes overall strategy, design, policies, guidelines, practices, and training that increase the effectiveness of major gift fundraising objectives via portfolio management and data analytics.

Serves as the primary resource for prospect management by maintaining an overall knowledge of the university’s top prospects and the proactive management and activities of the comprehensive prospect portfolio to ensure alignment in fundraising strategies and goals with portfolio movement and pipeline development.

Leverages industry knowledge to collaborate with executive leadership to establish, monitor, and improve UIC’s approach to prospect development and portfolio management based on best practices.

Provides quantitative and qualitative analysis to help drive strategic planning across Advancement, develop goals and metrics, move prospects through the gift cycle, optimize portfolios, and manage workload.

With the Data Analytics Manager, builds and maintains dashboards, spreadsheets, and other information systems to ensure UIC Advancement can provide real-time information to various audiences, including University leadership.

Responsible for data management of the prospect and donor pipeline at the individual, unit, and university levels. Monitors, tracks, and reports on portfolios, pipeline strength, expected commitments, campaign tracking, etc. Synthesizes and analyzes prospect data, conducts and reviews audits, and monitors data integrity for the purpose of improving the quality of the prospect-specific data.

Manages and assists the portfolio management and data analytics team’s efforts to support Advancement colleagues and provide proactive service in portfolio health, goal setting, campaign and unit analysis, and reporting.

Plans, assigns, and reviews the work of staff to ensure that group objectives are met. Hires, trains, develops, and manages staff to ensure that qualified staff exists to meet group objectives.

Through a partnership with the UIF Director of Research and Portfolio Management (RPM) and the RPM Manager for UIC, oversees workflow and resource deployment of prospect development analysts assigned to UIC.

Serves as liaison to University of Illinois Foundation (UIF) departments, committees, and working groups related to prospect management, portfolio management, research, data integrity, and/or reporting capabilities.

Collaborates with UIF colleagues to recommend database modifications to support effective reporting and analysis.

Assists UIC and UIF with developing and implementing a successful grateful patient prospecting process and pipeline.
