The Supervisor of Phlebotomy will conduct Phlebotomy and provide the administrative support to the Phlebotomy program throughout the University of Illinois Hospital and Healthcare Institution to achieve an effective and efficient phlebotomy service with an emphasis on quality patient care and high patient satisfaction. The Supervisor of Phlebotomy will supervise Phlebotomists throughout the UI Health sites, including evaluating their work performance, establishing workflows, assigning work, scheduling vacation, coordinate training, and setting work schedules. They will be responsible for the maintenance of supplies, records, and reports. Perform related duties as assigned.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Supervises Phlebotomists, including evaluating their work performance, assigning work, scheduling vacation, and setting work schedules.
- Make decisions as to the completeness of specimens/specimen requests.
- Perform manual computer procedures for test requesting, cancelling, or crediting tests ordered and verifying billing information. Prioritize and organize work.
- Perform Phlebotomy on patients of all ages.
- Responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of laboratory tests and analyses.
- Responsible for the maintenance and operation of laboratory equipment and the maintenance of supplies, records, and reports.
- Develops, performs, and teaches new and revised clinical laboratory procedures.
- Assists in coordinating training for staff and students, as needed.
- Performs clinical laboratory work involving a high degree of skill and statistical analysis of data as required.
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
