Summary:
Under the general supervision of the UIS Performing Arts Center Director of Development, the Social Media Intern will be responsible for creating and posting captivating content on our social media platforms related to the behind-the-scenes and onstage happenings of the UIS Performing Arts Center.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Must have the ability to take clear, dynamic photos/videos. Must have the capabilities of creating interesting digital content to engage our potential donors. Must have the ability to communicate compelling narratives that resonate with diverse audiences. Must have a positive friendly attitude, be clean and well-groomed (polo and dress pants/skirt required for events), possess good interpersonal communication skills, and treat patrons and donors with respect and consideration. Experience with photo/video editing tools to enhance content quality.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Dependable
Familiarity with platforms like Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and Twitter
Ability to take quality photographs and videos
Excellent verbal communication and customer service skills
Photo editing experience a plus
Accurate with names and details
Data input/computer/keyboard experience helpful.
Enthusiastic, presents a good image of the Auditorium to the public. Interest in the arts helpful.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Capturing photo and video content before and during shows: During preshow, intermission, and post show, assistant may be assigned areas to take photographs with a general goal of what types of images to take. After an event, assistant will be responsible for compiling photographs/videos of quality, uploading them into storage files, and either sharing them with Marketing or uploading them to approved social media sites. At no time are student interns allowed to retain personal copies of photographs/videos without written permission. All photographs/videos are property of the UIS Performing Arts Center. If assistant is taking photographs/videos of minors, assistance in compilations of photo releases may be required.
- Creating content for social media:_Throughout the week, assistant will create content and schedule posts on all UIS Performing Arts Center’s social media platforms. Assistant will create and schedule posts to be shared throughout the summer months.
- Working with Development to create messaging content: Working with Development requires engaging with donors in a respectful manner and taking videos and photographs to develop visually compelling content to capture the energy and creativity of the performing arts. As assistant will interact with donors and guests, it is imperative that reputation of the UIS Performing Arts Center be considered at all times. Assists Development Director by completing various projects that could be clerical in nature or in preparation of a donor engagement event.
- Researching current social media trends and other venue's social media pages: Assistant will research and incorporate trending topics, hashtags and formats to amplify audience engagement.
