Univ Ethics & Compliance Ofc
Provide expertise and assistance for the University Ethics and Compliance Office in evaluating compliance programs, reviewing regulatory or mandated compliance requirements and reporting, assisting compliance partners in developing or strengthening topic specific compliance programs, drafting policies, procedures and communications, identifying and sharing best practices, and liaising with System and university compliance partners regarding compliance obligations at the direction of the Associate Director of University Compliance. This position offers the flexibility of hybrid/remote work and can be based at either of our campuses in Urbana, Springfield, or Chicago.

The budgeted salary range for the position is $70,000.00 - 80,000.00. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity.

Duties And Responsibilities
- At the direction of the Associate Director of University Compliance, evaluate and monitor existing internal and external compliance environments; identify and communicate potential risks and vulnerabilities to the Associate Director of University Compliance; and advise and assist in establishing and/or strengthening new or existing compliance structures to enhance the entire System's compliance with federal, state, and local laws, rules and regulations, as well as institutional policies. 40%
- Assist key policy owners update, improve, and develop comprehensive compliance policies, procedures, guidelines, best practices, and training programs. 15%
- Promote a culture of compliance across the System by developing tools and techniques that enhance compliance awareness within the university community. 15%
- Provide expertise and assistance to the Associate Director of University Compliance in maintaining and enhancing the System level compliance program. 10%
- Build collaborative relationships with and between compliance partners (e.g., university compliance officers, health care system compliance officer, athletics compliance officers, research compliance professionals) across the System. 10%
- In consultation with the Associate Director of University Compliance, coordinate compliance concerns with or refer compliance concerns to appropriate System and university administrators for investigation and resolution. 5%
- Promote the use of the Ethics Line by faculty and staff to report perceived inappropriate activities and lack of compliance regarding federal law, state law, and University policies. 5%
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, management, or a field related to the position.
- Two (2) years of professional business, financial, and/or managerial work experience.
- Based on position requirements, additional education, training, and/or work experience in an area of specialization inherent to the position may be required.
- Two years of professional experience in higher education or healthcare industry.
- Two years of professional experience in a compliance-related field, or as a compliance professional.
- Master's degree or other advanced degree in a related field.
Required:
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Proven ability to work well with diverse populations
- Advanced computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite as well as proficiency with an Internet browser.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with University, campus, and departmental officials and staff to communicate technical and complex concepts clearly and persuasively.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent problem-solving skills to address difficult, complex issues.
- Strong interpersonal skills that reflect courtesy, diplomacy, and a collaborative approach to develop and maintain work relationships.

- Professional leadership experience within an academic institution, medical or research center, large company, or government agency
