Description:
The Student Affairs Digital Imaging Specialist I assist in the creation of student and field based video production, including the planning, filming, editing, live streaming, sound mixing, graphic design to prepare and produce digital moving images for multimedia applications, electronic presentations and output to film.
The Digital Imaging Specialist workday is incorporated into computer-based presentations, slides, web pages, ad video/television productions.
Coordinates crews (both staff and talent), design sets and lighting, and assists in preproduction. Under administrative direction from the Digital Imaging Specialist II, to coordinate daily activities in programming, operations, and/or on-air promotions for various video channels and to assist in its management.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Facilitate the operation of digital imaging, livestream and video equipment to capture a variety of subjects (people, landscape, architectural, university departments, and UIC events).
- Provides post-production and edits digital images/video into final format to ensure quality control, and uploads to secure servers.
- Conceptualizes and delivers motion graphic animations that will elevate content distribution across all platforms.
- Facilitate the creation of motion graphics for UIC digital signage systems, marketing campaigns, partnership elements, and multi-platform content. Performs green screen keying.
- Facilitate the maintenance, repair, and replacement of imaging/video equipment.
- Facilitates the maintenance of digital image/video inventory and archives; orders and maintains inventory of digital imaging apparatus and supplies.
- Manage day-to-day office operations. Interview, hire, orient, lead, mentor and evaluate staff to meet departmental and organizational needs.
- Creates, modifies, and customizes motion graphic packages, templates, and toolkits.
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Required:
1. Any one or any combination totaling 1 year (12 months) from any of the following categories:
A. Credit for progressively more advanced college course work that would lead to a Bachelor’s degree in a communications production related field
- 60 semester hours or an Associate’s degree or higher equals 1 year (12 months)
B. Progressively more responsible work experience and/or on the job training that provided knowledge of advanced practices and methods of digital imaging and processing.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience creating animations and motion graphics with working knowledge of After Effects, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro is preferred.
