Job Description
The Academic Advisor works closely with the School of Nursing leadership team, faculty, and staff to provide academic advising and clinical support for undergraduate students. This position reports to the School of Nursing Associate Dean.

Requirements/Minimum Qualifications
- Experience: At least 3 years of experience with customer service, higher education, coaching/advising, or in the health care industry.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred
- Manage communications and data through use of computer-based communications systems and databases; experience with Google Suite and use of a learning management system (LMS) is preferred
- Manage projects; project management experience is a plus.
- Work on several projects simultaneously and collaboratively.
- Adapt to changing assignments, multiple priorities, and crucial due dates.
- Document and track details of interactions and decisions as it relates to clinical placement and advising.
- Exercise sound, independent judgment to address needs of faculty and students.
- Work under pressure and meet crucial due dates.
- Understand, analyze, communicate, and coordinate complex issues and information to a diverse group of individuals.
- Confer with leadership, faculty, and staff to discuss the academic and behavioral circumstances of students, in order to better support their academic success.
- Document and track advising and clinical placement documents and interactions using designated systems and strategies.
- Maintain current and specific knowledge of curriculum within assigned programs; demonstrate a general knowledge of other related programs.
- Communicate curriculum requirements and changes to nursing students.
- Create academic plans.
- Be accessible to students, especially during peak advising cycles. This may require providing remote office hours outside of normal work hours.
- Direct students to services, programs, and campus resources.
- Create reports related to program accreditation and monitor student compliance with contractual health and other requirements.
- Facilitate data management and communication across students, faculty, and community partners, including legal offices at UIndy
- Follow the guidance and direction of supervisor(s).
- Demonstrate respectful, ethical, responsible behavior.
- Abide by the University’s policies, procedures, and rules.
- Perform employee responsibilities as detailed in employee handbooks and policies.
- Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance and punctuality.
- Participate as needed in student engagement events.
- Other duties, including special projects, as required or assigned.
