Job Description
The School of Business at the University of Indianapolis is seeking to add faculty to accommodate growth in its Accounting programs. The School seeks applicants for an Assistant Professor in Accounting. This is a full-time, tenure or non-tenure track, nine-month faculty position with a start date of August 2025. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. Priority will be given to applications received by March 1st, 2025.
The successful candidate will be an expert in the fields of financial accounting, managerial accounting, auditing, individual income tax, corporate/estate tax, financial statement analysis, plus other related course topics offered at both the undergraduate and graduate levels at UIndy. The candidate will have a passion for teaching, research, and innovation; and will contribute to advancing the university’s commitment to excellence in education, bridging theoretical concepts with real-world applications.
Teaching may occur in face to face, hybrid, or fully asynchronous online modalities. Excellence in teaching is paramount for success, so candidates with a track record of excellence in teaching at the higher education level will be strongly favored. Professional certifications or continuing professional education are a plus.

The School curricula are built around Applied Business Projects and Experiential Learning. Faculty supervise student projects that work with clients in the local business community. The School also has a long-running joint degree program with Ningbo Tech University in Ningbo, China and teaches classes in English in Ningbo.
The ideal candidate would have a Doctorate degree in the accounting field or a combination of a Master’s degree and CPA. Prior experience in applied consulting or work experience in the field is highly desirable; prior quality teaching is a plus.

- PHD or Masters and CPA is required
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to inspire and mentor students.
- A collaborative approach to teaching.
- Teaching a variety of accounting courses at the university level.
- Strong background in financial accounting, managerial accounting, auditing, individual income tax, corporate/estate tax, financial statement analysis as well as their applications in various industries.
- Build and maintain partnerships with industry leaders to facilitate internships, collaborations, and student placement in related fields.
- Serve as an expert and thought in accounting, offering workshops, seminars, and public lectures.
