Job Description
The Department of Criminal Justice at the University of Indianapolis invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Practice in Criminal Forensics & Director of Field Experience. This is a full-time, nine-month position, with benefits, to begin August 2025.
The successful candidate will teach courses in crime scene investigations, criminal evidence and related topics, direct student internships, advise students, and assess student learning outcomes for program improvement. Classes are held in traditional and hybrid formats. We are looking for a strong teacher-professional committed to pedagogical innovation, experiential learning, and collaborating with agencies and the community. The Department of Criminal Justice is home to the Criminal Justice Education Lab, a dedicated house for hands-on labs in crime scene investigations and other facets of criminal justice. Preference will be given to candidates with professional experience in crime scene investigations and/or other aspects of criminalistics, such as ballistics, etc. Teaching experience in the subject area is also preferred.

Requirements/Minimum Qualifications
- Experience: Professional experience in criminal forensics
- Education: Master’s degree in a relevant field or working toward a graduate degree
- Licenses/Certifications/Credentials: None
- Certification from National Firearms Examiner Academy (NFEA) preferred
