Job Description
The Assistant Volleyball Coach provides support and leadership with all facets of the women's volleyball program as directed by the head coach, including recruiting, administrative responsibilities, and applying effective coaching, teaching, and mentoring techniques that result in successful competition, retention, and graduation of qualified student-athletes.
Responsibilities
- Assist with coaching volleyball.
- Adhere to all NCAA and athletic department rules and regulations.
- Develop practice plans and game strategy in preparation for competition.
- Perform scouting and film breakdown as assigned by the head coach.
- Recruit qualified student-athletes who are a good fit for UIndy.
- Assist with administrative functions, including submitting NCAA compliance forms, ordering and issuing athletic equipment, community service, fundraising, team travel, and camps.
- Attend all staff meetings—both department and women’s volleyball related.
- Develop and mentor graduate assistant and student assistant coaches.
- Monitor academic success and progress toward the degree of volleyball student-athletes.
- Follow the guidance and direction of supervisor(s).
- Demonstrate respectful, ethical, and responsible behavior.
- Abide by the University’s policies, procedures, and rules.
- Perform employee responsibilities as detailed in employee handbooks and policies.
- Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance and punctuality.
- Perform other duties, including special projects, as required or assigned.
Qualifications
- Wide range of coaching experience and roles in collegiate athletics, preferably at the NCAA Division I or Division II level.
- Administrative experience such as travel planning, academic support, and coordinating camps.
- Experience with technical skill development and individual coaching.
- Recruiting experience at the collegiate level.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
