Responsibilities
- Lead the coaching, training, and mentorship of the outside linebacker position group, emphasizing fundamentals, advanced techniques, and football IQ.
- Develop and implement position-specific drills to improve player agility, tackling, pass-rushing, and coverage skills.
- Evaluate and recruit prospective student-athletes who align with the program’s competitive and academic standards.
- Build and maintain relationships with high school coaches, prospects, and their families to establish a strong recruiting pipeline.
- Collaborate with the Defensive Coordinator to develop and install weekly defensive game plans, focusing on opponent tendencies and matchups.
- Organize, instruct, and manage the scout team, ensuring thorough defensive preparation for upcoming games.
- Analyze game and practice film, identifying areas for improvement and providing detailed feedback to players.
- Assist in the day-to-day operations of the football program, including team travel coordination, equipment management, and practice scheduling.
- Contribute to summer camps and clinics, fostering player development and strengthening community engagement.
- Promote a culture of academic excellence, athletic achievement, and personal integrity within the football program.
- Ensure full compliance with NCAA, conference, and institutional rules and regulations to maintain program eligibility and integrity.
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Strong knowledge of defensive football concepts, particularly outside linebacker techniques, responsibilities, and fundamentals.
- Collegiate playing or coaching experience, particularly in linebacker or defensive positions.
- Proven recruiting experience and ability to evaluate and connect with diverse student-athletes.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills, with a track record of working effectively within a collaborative team environment.
