Requirements/Qualifications
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in procurement.
- Relevant experience in lieu of education will be considered.
- Experience in higher education or nonprofit organizations is preferred.
- Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Supply Chain Management or a related field or significant experience directly related to the position.
- Strong strategic thinking skills, a deep understanding of procurement practices, and the ability to contribute to the overall efficiency and success of the university.
- Proficiency with financial reporting software (e.g., Banner, PeopleSoft, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with various departments.
- Ability to think critically, solve problems, and make data-driven decisions in a dynamic environment.
- Procurement Management: Manage the end-to-end procurement process, including identifying needs, sourcing suppliers, negotiating contracts, and overseeing order fulfillment.
- Supplier Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with current and potential suppliers. Assess supplier performance and resolve any issues related to quality, delivery, or cost.
- Market Research: Conduct research to identify potential suppliers and stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and new products or services.
- Cost Optimization: Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions with suppliers to achieve cost savings while ensuring high-quality products and services.
- Compliance: Ensure all procurement activities adhere to university policies, procedures, and legal/regulatory requirements.
- Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate records of procurement transactions, supplier contracts, and purchasing reports. Prepare procurement reports for management when necessary.
- Software Implementation & Integration: Collaborate with the IT department, software vendors, and other University departments to ensure seamless integration of the new procurement software. Oversee the configuration and customization of the system to meet the organization's procurement needs.
- Problem Solving: Address and resolve any procurement-related issues, including supply chain disruptions or quality concerns.
