What are the responsibilities and job description for the PTA Assistant Director of Clinical Education position at University of Indianapolis?
The PTA Assistant Director of Clinical Education (PTA ADCE) position encompasses the management and coordination of the clinical education components within the Physical Therapist Assistant program. The PTA ADCE is considered a “core” faculty member of the Physical Therapist Assistant program.
The PTA ADCE position also includes the role of Academic Faculty within KSPT (see Academic Faculty Position Description for additional responsibilities and requirements/minimum qualifications).
REQUIREMENTS/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience
- At least three years of full-time post-licensure experience in clinical practice, including
- At least two years of clinical practice experience as a Site/Center Coordinator for Clinical Education (SCCE) and/or clinical instructor (CI) in physical therapy OR
- At least two years of academic experience in teaching, curriculum development, and administration in a PT or PTA program.
Education
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution is required.
Licenses/Certifications/Credentials
- Maintain an active, unrestricted Indiana physical therapy license or physical therapist assistant license/certification.
- Comply with annual University and program employee training requirements and program immunization requirements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Represents KSPT in strengthening existing and expanding new partnerships with clinical sites.
- Facilitates compilation and interpretation of data related to clinical education for the PTA program
- Assists the DCE in planning and/or carrying out clinical faculty development activities as appropriate.
- Collaborates with the DCE to ensure clinical education policies, procedures, and practices for the PTA program are in compliance with CAPTE accreditation standards.
- Provides oversight of PTA student compliance with health requirements and annual health education training.
- Assists the DCE in carrying out the strategic plan for the KSPT clinical education programs.
- Participates in KSPT clinical education team meetings.
- Facilitates quality clinical learning experiences for PTA students.
- Selects clinical learning environments in accordance with the mission of the Krannert School of Physical Therapy, Physical Therapist Assistant Program.
- Develops, monitors, and refines the clinical education component of the PTA curriculum.
- Evaluates PTA students’ performance during clinical rotations in cooperation with clinical educators as part of the clinical experience courses.
- Communicates information about clinical education with PTA faculty, clinical education sites, clinical education faculty, and students.
- Coordinates and conducts PTA student clinical education preparation.
- Follow the guidance and direction of supervisor(s).
