Responsibilities
- Advise students on academic requirements, course selection, and degree progress.
- Assist students with academic planning, including creating and reviewing academic plans.
- Guide students to appropriate resources, such as tutoring, academic support services, and career counseling.
- Communicate curriculum changes and updates to students effectively.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administrators to address student academic and personal challenges.
- Maintain accurate student records and data.
- Participate in departmental and college-wide initiatives to enhance student success.
- Provide academic advising during peak periods, which may require flexible or extended office hours.
- Education: Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree in Higher Education or a related field preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum of one year of experience in a student- or client-centered environment.
- Two years of experience in an academic setting preferred.
- Experience working with regular deadlines and proficiency with administrative systems required.
- Experience using a student records database preferred.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Strong advising and counseling skills with the ability to build rapport with students.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in using technology for student advising and record-keeping.
- Knowledge of student development theory and best practices in academic advising.
- Strong commitment to student success and diversity and inclusion.
