Position Summary:
The new University of Iowa Health Care North Liberty Department of Radiology is seeking a Patient Care Technician under direct supervision, assists the members of Radiology division in provision of efficient and safe patient care. Assists IR staff with a wide variety of procedures by participating in patient preparation, patient transport and room turnover. Assists with management of inventory.
Position Responsibilities:
- Independently Takes and records temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure, oxygen level, and other various assessments as instructed.
- Responsible for facilitating smooth flow of patients through imaging areas by assisting imaging technologists in the performance of radiology procedures.
- Provides for patient comfort measures through social interactions.
- Performs simple diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as enemas, preoperative preparation of the skin, dressing changes, collecting, specimens, applying binders, braces, etc.
- Transports patients, equipment (including Radiology imaging equipment), specimens and supplies.
- Assemble equipment and supplies in preparation for various diagnostic or treatment procedures, including sterile tray set up.
- Shares responsibility for preparation, proper use and care of equipment and supplies and for neatness and cleanliness of assigned area.
- Performs simple diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as preprocedural preparation of the skin, dressing changes, collecting specimens, etc.
- Reports pertinent patient information and incidents to imaging technologist and care team, including obtaining medical assistance for changes in the patient condition.
- Directly provides for patients' personal hygiene and comfort.
- Demonstrate accountability for patient satisfaction.
- Cleans areas per designated guidelines and standards demonstrating proper use of approved disinfectants, cleaning products, and care of the housekeeping equipment.
- Stock and supply assigned areas.
- Maintain patient confidentiality.
- Adheres to departmental established policies and procedures including but not limiting to double identification and hand hygiene.
- Collaborates with imaging technologists and other staff across Radiology to ensure optimal patient experience and efficient workflow.
- Performs special duties as assigned.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm
