The UIHC Medical Center Downtown is seeking a Staff Nurse to assess patients' nursing care needs, evaluate effectiveness of care provided, and integrate nursing theory and research into clinical practice. Provide leadership to members of the nursing team in order to maintain patient care standards.
Under limited supervision, the SWOT staff nurse performs transient assignments to facilitate patient throughput, provide short-term critical care monitoring, assist with admitting patients, and serves as a resource and leader for other members of the patient care team.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED
General supervision is received from the Nurse Manager, Associate Director, Director or designee.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
Functional supervision is exercised over the unit nursing personnel.
Percent of Time: 90%
Schedule: Day shift, 0700-1930; occasional weekend/holiday/call coverage
Salary: $60,000 minimum at 100% effort to commensurate *This does not include differentials. Salary will vary based on years of experience and percent of effort.* SEIU Pay Plan: https://hr.uiowa.edu/pay/pay-plans/seiu-pay-plan
Pay Differentials: Shift differentials for evening, night, and weekend shifts. Premium pay for additional shifts greater than 4 hours. Inpatient differential of $5,000 per year based on percent time

Education & Experience Requirements
- An Associate's Degree in Nursing, a Diploma in Nursing, a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, Professional Masters of Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP), MSN/Clinical Nurse Leader or a Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN, MA) is required.
- Minimum two (2) years recent (within the last three [3] years) Staff Nurse experience in critical care and/or Emergency Department.
- Demonstrate flexibility in multiple work assignments and ability to effectively multi-task work.
- Proven critical thinking skills.
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills with patients/families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members as evidenced through written and verbal communications.
- General computer skills are required.
- Current license to practice nursing in Iowa
- ACLS certification
Desirable Qualifications
- Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or Master's Degree in Nursing is highly desired.
- If Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is not yet obtained, active enrollment in a BSN program is desirable.
- Knowledge of university policies and procedures is desired.
- Certification in a critical care field recognized by the AACN or ANCC is highly desired.
