The University of Iowa Landscape Services is seeking a highly motivated person to work as an Equipment Operator. This position will be a floater amongst different crews with focus on material hauling and handling, maintenance of trees, shrubs, flower beds, turf and hardscapes. Under direct supervision, operates and maintains power equipment, truck and light machinery and performs other labor required to landscape and maintain campus grounds. During inclement winter weather this position will be required to assist in snow and ice removal in a variety of equipment that may include skid steers, plow trucks, sander, or Polar Trac
Job Duties to Include :
- Mowing, trimming, mulching, weeding, pruning, leaf removal
- Operate skid loaders, JCB, tractors, and attachments
- Perform snow removal in plow truck and / or skid loader
- Assist other Landscape Services units as needed such as the Tree Crew, Turf Crew, etc.
- Haul materials such as soil, sand, gravel in dump truck.
- Communicate w / Supervisor, staff, and customers.
- Perform minor repairs and service work on equipment.
- Use technology as required in fulfilment of position (e.g., email, Employee Self Service, work order system).

Schedule : Monday through Friday, 6 : 00 am to 2 : 30 pm; Due to the critical operational needs of the department, this position may be required to work overtime.
During inclement weather, required to answer phone as early as 2 : 30 am, and return to campus as early as 4 am for
snow / ice removal

About Facilities Management :
Facilities Management (FM) is a service unit of approximately 500 employees who work behind the scenes, 24 hours a day, serving the University of Iowa as stewards of our beautiful Iowa City campus and Oakdale campus in Coralville. FM staff coordinate campus master planning, manage design and construction, maintain, and clean the buildings and grounds.
