The Cardiovascular Lab at the Downtown Campus is seeking a full-time (100%) Sonographer t o perform a variety of adult cardiac ultrasound procedures and assist in invasive procedures, participate in teaching, evaluating and / or advising students, residents and fellows in areas of expertise.
Duties to include :
- Perform adult cardiac ultrasonography procedures and other complex invasive procedures to include : two-dimensional echo, M-mode, pulse wave and continuous wave Doppler, color flow Doppler, 3D, Strain, Exercise and Dobutamine Stress Echo studies.
- Assist physicians with acquiring images during TEE studies. And perform contrast and saline bubble studies as needed.
- Provide and maintain quality diagnostic adult echocardiographic exams.
- Perform equipment calibration and sterilization as prescribed by standard accepted methods of operation.
- Maintain quality control in accordance with accepted departmental standards.
- Assist cardiologist or other physicians with non-invasive, invasive or Doppler procedures.
- Recognize basic equipment malfunction and coordinate with appropriate parties to find resolutions.
- Provide information and instruction to patients, patient's family, or others regarding the nature of requested diagnostic procedures.
- Maintain continuing education as specified by the ARDMS and IAC.
- Contribute to preparation for IAC accreditation.
- Instruct Cardiology, Anesthesiology fellows, medical residents and other students on scanning techniques and proper equipment operation.
- Follow general policies and procedures in accordance with the regulations of UI Health Care, the College of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine, and UI Heart and Vascular Center.
- Assist with policy development and review.
- Function as a preceptor for orientation of new team members and students.
- Establish and maintain standards of collaborative interaction among peers and employees that is characterized by respect, honesty and service; assure that all unit members are held to similar standards and ethics.
- Provide coverage for the UI Heart and Vascular Center at Iowa River Landing (IRL) as needed / assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
