The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Department of Radiology is seeking a PACS Systems Administrator to be responsible for day-to-day operation of PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) equipment including image workflow, archiving, auto-routing, diagnostic viewing, prefetching and other related activities. The PACS team oversees complete capture of DICOM digital image data into the PACS system while ensuring timely access to diagnostic quality images is available 365x24x7, providing both hardware and software support for servers and workstations. Works to implement and support many other image post-processing systems alongside the PACS environment for multiple hospital departments. This position is critical to supporting patient care and will require an ability to become proficient with an in-depth understanding of all Radiology interoperability and end user workflow and support. Other duties as assigned.
Position Responsibilities :
- Analysis : Aids in the implementation and support of key Radiology IT platforms. Actively seeks process improvement opportunities within the department and presents those to department leadership.
- Implementation : Performs basic configuration and installation of organization-wide Radiology IT solutions. Assists with the integration of key systems and platforms. Ensures system backup strategies are developed.
- Documentation : Documents all work orders and project related work. Diagrams system architecture for implemented solutions. Creates how-to documentation for end-users.
- Support : Plays a key team role in providing support of multiple complex and integrated Radiology IT solutions. Interacts with team members at all levels of the organization. Participates in department on call rotation. Coordinates regularly with the hospital IT department. Aids in developing scripts to improve the management and support of Radiology IT systems.
- Relationship Management : Provides a high level of customer services to key individuals across all levels of the organization, inside and outside of Radiology. Regularly interacts with physicians and other clinical staff. Participates in project and support calls with vendors.
- Leadership : Assists in onboarding new department staff members. Shares knowledge of existing systems with new staff.
